Repair kit for power steering box
« on: April 25, 2019, 07:10:52 PM »
G'Day All,

My son's newly acquired 94 Feroza came with a very leaky power steering box.

We managed to find a decent replacement at the wreckers but now I'd like to see if the leaky one can be repaired.

So far, we've not found a power steering box repair kit that explicitly suits the ones we have  - both with 'Toyoda' and '87603' on the main case (casting).

We've since found the official part number (for US Rocky version at least) is 44110-87605-000 - presumably ours is an earlier revision given the 87603 on the casting ...not that knowing this has helped.

We found this useful post on another forum that shows how to dismantle a 80 series box - very similar though ours has no  'power piston'

Am guessing one of the Toyota repair kits would likely be compatible ...but which one?

Melbourne based 'Steering Rebuilds Australia' now has a repair kit available:

The kit part number is PSK 2620 and, according to the label, is also applicable to Toyota Crown and HiAce (not sure what models) as well as LandCruiser (HJ60 & HJ75)

I purchased a kit but have yet to tackle the job
