Tutorial 6: Wire

Because a lot of us want to improve our machines by adding electrical devices, this requires wire.  The following charts I find useful for determining an appropriate wire size;

I have used the Gilfillan standard for decades.  Observe that the specs in the Gilfillan standard for wire resistance is per 1000 feet, while the the 3rd chart specifies for 100 feet.

The point is that the resistance in the wire will determine how much voltage will be lost between your battery and your device.  Too small a wire will reduce your voltage to the point where your device may not work properly or even burn up.
