Mysterious A/C switch
« on: January 21, 2018, 02:02:41 PM »
I'm not sure if this is in the correct sub-forum, but here goes.
Not long after first acquiring ROCKY, and having the air conditioner compressor rebuilt, one day DW & I were in a hot weather situation and the A/C was intermittent.
I went to my favorite mech who unfortunately mis-diagnosed the problem but in the search for the part I met Leon the Magnificent.  He showed me the correct part which had failed.
At the left rear of the engine is a little electrical switch screwed into the water jacket which monitors the engine coolant temperature and is normally closed but opens when hot.
While looking for a replacement switch we grounded the wire to that switch and the A/C functioned.  I since sourced the part and it has been working for years now.

Do you have a part number or anything?
