Control arm failure
« on: January 05, 2014, 11:46:15 AM »
Hello .
My father was driving his 1994 Rocky , when the rear control arm broke in half causing his spring to fall out and  the rear shock to break. We initial thought that this was due to bad luck but the same thing happened to the other side one year later. We inspected the metal and the engineering that went making into this part and realized it is a design fault. Does anyone have any information about this. We live in Australia and were hoping that there is an after market part that is far stronger. Is any able to assist ?

hey icon. Any more info on this \"rear control arm\"? because as far as I know you can only have controls arms if the vehicle is independent suspension

It\'s probably called the radius arm. It connects the diff housing to the chassis and also hold the spring. The front is Independent but rear is not.
