My 1990 Rocky with New Upgrades...
« on: December 18, 2012, 08:03:47 PM »

Upgraded to new wheels and Tires and a Snorkel from Rexypow - note the snorkel you have to buy for US models is the one listed for \"Feroza\" not \"Rocky\".

The wheels are from Basset Racing - custom made 15inch  x 7inch with 3 inch offset instead of the 4.25 inch offset on the factory chrome wheels that came with the Rocky. The 3 inch offset puts the edge of the tire right with the fender flares.  I went with Cooper Discoverer AT3 tires so I could have an aggressive tire but minimize road noise when the top is off in the summer.

Width of new wheels = 7 inch.... same width as stock Rocky wheels...  as for tires, I went with 235/75-15 instead of 205/75-15... also went with LT tires and do not regret it at all - old tires were P-metric for a passenger car.

Have not hooked up the snorkel yet... but you can get a good idea from the ebay auction - the photos on rexypows auction show how they hooked it up - search ebay for \"feroza snorkel\" and you\'ll find it.

Here\'s a current link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fiberglass-SNORKEL-Air-Ram-for-Daihatsu-Feroza-/270452244520

Thanks for the great comments!

Someone asked where did I get my aluminum rack.... The rack is :

http://smile.amazon.com/Aluminum-Silver-Carrier-Luggage-Crossbars/dp/B004AMPLGM/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1442924199&sr=8-5&keywords=aluminum+roof+rack

or http://www.ebay.com/itm/50-x38-Aluminum-Car-Roof-Cargo-Carrier-Luggage-Basket-Rack-Top-w-Crossbars-New-/361378796172?hash=item5423dad28c&vxp=mtr

I typed in "aluminum roof rack" into the search on both ebay and Amazon and found them pretty easily (within the first 10 search results or less).

I used a generic crossbar for the front part which clamps onto the drip rail.  For the rear, I got rails from an old Subaru Legacy Wagon (the angular/squared off ones from the mid to late eighties) including the end plastic clips and the screws.  Then I drilled into the fiberglass of the hard top and installed the Subaru rails.  The rails had to be shortened so as to only be as long as the fiberglass top.  Then I fabbed up custom mounts for the rear racks which bolt into the sliders that came off the Subaru Rack.
