ARCHIVE: FRONT crankshaft SEAL
« on: March 11, 2011, 07:49:47 PM »
Front crankshaft seal for a 1990 Rocky we have in the shop. Replacement seal we have does not sit flush into the front cover. Looking for correct size seal or determine if this seal will work without being damaged.

You quoted seal Daihatsu Part Number 90043-11345-000, correct dimensions for this seal are 32x48x5,

Alaskan Ogre, sorry think I may have found a mistake there in the parts page list, but I will verify it tomorrow, OK

You quoted seal Daihatsu Part Number 90043-11345-000, correct dimensions for this seal are 32x48x5, this is NOT the front crankshaft seal, 90043-11345-000. Engine, CRANK SHAFT REAR

34x48x6
it sounds like the seal is to thick in it\'s depth, just drop the last figure 34x38x7 by 1mm and that should do the trick, I have 2 of these seals at my mechanics, unfortunately not here in the house, but I can swing by there tomorrow and check for you, only replaced mine about 2 months ago.

Where did you get the 6mm spec? When I was going through all the part numbers I tried to double and even triple check the specs I listed but even then they could be wrong since most places just copy info from one wrong source making more wrong sources.

I just used a bit of common sense on this one,I also googled it, came up with a site in Russia. If the seal is sitting out to far, drop it by 1mm and it should fit, but as I said I will verify that seal tomorrow, I have 2 at my mechanics in the back of my SX Rocky

This is where I found the dimensions from the russian site translated
http://translate.google.com.pr/translate?hl=en&sl=ru&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.auto-fortuna.ru%2Fcatalog.php%3Faction%3Dlist%26table%3Dt_4d33e274688cf%26section%3Droz

I know trying to make a parts list is not easy, I admire you for doing it ;)

Hey I just found this to,
http://www.infodozer.com/catalogs/musashi/search.php?model=CHARADE&maker=DAIHATSU

this part number is for the daihatsu charade
CRANK SHAFT FRONT

Engines
HC#,HD#,HE#...G20#,G21#   32*48*5 Part# 90043-11345-000

Alaskan Ogre,
I apologize, your part number is correct, it was the dimensions that were incorrect. :silly:

Well, I went to my mechanics for the output shaft seal #\'s thinking I had 2 of them there and guess what, there gone, sorry about that.

Lion,

Can you help me with this? I purchased a new oil pump and have the EXACT same problem. Every seal that we have been given for the Front Crank seal is 1-2mm too large. We tried to cut it down by 1mm but that didnt work and it still leaked. The original 90043-11345-000 part we removed appeared to be .25 inch wich is actually around 6mm not 5 or 7MM. Did you end up using the 5mm size or did you cut down a 7mm? If you used a 5mm, what brand did you use? I\'m not sure if I can find Musashi or Redline distributor. So it appears 32*48*5 may be too thin and 32*48*7 may be too wide. I am most likely going to try a 5mm if I can find one. Thanks!

Not really sure of the brand i used as it came from Australia, and it was quite a while ago when i did it, but if i used the dimensions listed earlier in this post, it must of worked or i would of posted that it didn\'t.
