Charge Warning & Brake Warning lights
« on: January 30, 2015, 03:30:54 PM »
So we're fighting a weird issue on the Rocky...

SOMETIMES when you start it up, both the CHARGE WARNING and BRAKE WARNING indicator lights on the dash come on and stay lit, and sometimes they both go out like they're supposed to.

Any brilliant ideas as to what we should look for?

Thanks in advance....

The same thing happened to me.  In my case....  The alternator was failing.
Too soon old!

Ugh...

Had the alternator rebuilt not all that long ago, but had a bad feeling that that might be the problem

Guess I'll have to pull it out again - in all that spare time I have

Thanks though

From my experience, the alternator as a whole was not the issue, but it was the electronic (replaceable) regulator. This is mounted inside the alternator.
The workshop manual gives you a few good tips in troubleshooting the problem.

Thanks guys! Same issue just started on my 90 Rocky. I was figuring alternator but hoped for an easier fix. Great site, great advice.
