Sputtering & Lack of Power
« on: November 16, 2015, 04:34:02 PM »
So the issue started a while ago.  It sputters and has a little trouble getting going in the lower RPM range (0-2k).  I thought maybe some moisture got into the distributor cap, but I took it off and everything checked out. I made sure all the wires are tight.  I had a CEL for the EGR, so I cleaned it best I could and the CEL went away. I put some Iso in the fuel to eliminate any water in fuel tank/lines and that maybe helped a little.  The sputtering and lack of power however, still continues.

What is my next step.  I was thinking the cone fuel filter. Is that too difficult? What do I even clean it with?

If that doesn't work, replace fuel filter?

It seems the cone filter protects the fuel pump from crud.                So If it is not rotted out. then rinse it out.

I don't Know where to Buy them.  In USA.  If you find some let me know?????

Change the fuel filter under the hood-  Check the timing too.  If you suspect water in the gas - you can drain the tank when you are checking the cone filter and  fuel filter.
