clutch is difficult to push 3 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
I just bought a 92 Rocky... it has a couple of minor problems. The biggest issue is the clutch. It seems to be very hard to push, which makes it hard to drive smoothly.

The way it feels, I don't think it's the cable, but I'll need to check that...

The other big issue is that the valve cover is leaking pretty bad. I'll have to replace the gasket, hopefully it's not more than that.

Well you might need to chech and adjust the cluth cable maybe and good look finding a valve cover seal. I can't seem to find seals for rockys yet.

I found a reciept for a clutch cable on the car, and it sure looks new, but I'll check it anyway before I pull the transmission.

I was able to order a full clutch kit and valve cover seal from advanced auto parts. They should. Be here tomorrow.

I finally got around to this project.... the problem turned out to be the throw-out bearing.... It was binding on the shaft instead of sliding...

But I can't put it back together until I figure out the pilot bearing... (in the center of the flywheel) how the heck do you get that out?

thanks...

Will you let us know when you get it figured out? My clutch is also hard to push in and its not the cable I already checked it.

seem my post right above yours....

The problem was that the throwout bearing was binding on the sleeve it slides on, so when you pressed the pedal, it was difficult to slide. It wasn't the pressure plate, etc.

So I ended up doing the full clutch job, which was a good thing because the pilot bearing was in pretty bad shape.

The clutch it self had some where, but would have gone many thousands of miles more.

But I figure I'm good for another 100k miles now...
