Home Made Snorkel PDF Print E-mail

This is a home made snorkel using 70mm pvc plumbers pipe.

 

You will need:

aprox 2m of pipe;
one 90deg elbow;
two 45deg bend;
Snorkel head from 4x4 shop;
two metal sadles bent to shape;
two large hose clamps;
rubber trim;
80mm holesaw and electric drill;
pvc glue;
paint or black tape;
And some flexible hose.

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Remove factory intake tube from airbox.
  2. Cut two pieces of pipe at 700mm long.
  3. Assemble as shown in pic but do not glue yet.
  4. Hold assembled parts against guard and mark position of hole in guard (measure twice cut once)
  5. Tape area to be drilled to avoid damage to guard and drill through outer and inner guard with holesaw.
  6. Paint edges of cut hole with anti rust paint and cover with rubber trim
  7. Cut another peice of pipe 300mm long and insert into hole in guard
  8. Attach assemlbed parts to pipe in guard and allign them to shape of pillar and mark joints
  9. Dis assemble and glue parts together. make sure joint marks line up. glue to intake pipe in guard
  10. Connect to airbox with flexible hose and clamps.
  11. Bend sadles intoP shape and fix snorkel to pillar with self drilling screw.
  12. Finally place head on pipe and tighten, stand back and admire your handy work before you pull it off to paint it.
